MARKETS REPORTER

The National, a quality English language broadsheet and digital news operation based in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a markets reporter for its business section. The successful candidate will do more than just report the news - our trademark has been to deliver a value-added, sophisticated take on the markets through our 'what's up' and 'what's down' columns.

They have a forward-looking character and need to tap into the mind of an investor. The markets reporting role is unique in the business section because the reporter has free rein to analyse all sectors of the economy, tapping into a big world of executives, bankers, traders and analysts who all have views about what is going on, and why.

The job also involves writing about the markets themselves and the regulators, focusing on themes such as insider trading, consolidation of exchanges, foreign ownership and the expected upgrade of the UAE into emerging markets status. The successful candidate would also be expected to appear regularly on video for our 'Market Minute' and contribute to the other parts of the section including profiles and features.

Experience covering financial markets would be a definite advantage. Please send an email marked "markets" to jobs@thenational.ae including your CV, a short cover letter and a few clips
