Permanent role based in Reading with travel to Kent
From regulating major industry to reducing pollution incidents, from improving water and air quality to preventing the risk of flooding, it’s our job at the Environment Agency to protect and improve the environment throughout England and Wales. Join our South East Communications Team, and you can play an important role in ensuring that future generations inherit a cleaner, healthier world.
In this varied and challenging opportunity no two days will be the same. One day you could be working on a story about a waste campaign or handling enquiries about fish stocks in local rivers, the next you could be dealing with a major flood incident. Few press posts offer such diversity of issues or the chance to work on such high profile stories.
Reporting to the Media Manager, you’ll be on the front line of communications within our South East region when it comes to major incidents. You’ll be dealing with day-to-day media enquiries, writing press releases, and working on long-term campaigns to enhance and promote the work of the Environment Agency in the local area.
• you’ll come to us with communications experience together with a degree or equivalent in a communications or media-related field;
• passionate about environmental issues, you will have the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders to promote our communications strategy;
• articulate and analytical, you will have a flair for presenting your ideas, building relationships with journalists, and creating innovative news angles;
• a full driving licence will be essential as you will be working between our Reading, Wallingford, and Hatfield offices.
In return, we offer a competitive package with a range of benefits and the opportunity to make a real difference to the environment. We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
