Deputy Editor – Craft Portfolio

Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine is looking for a talented deputy editor. You’ll support the editor in the day-to-day running of the magazine, commissioning, writing and subbing copy. You will help manage and develop the team, deputise for the editor in her absence and need to work well under pressure. A passion for craft would be advantageous. You need a minimum of two years’ experience at production editor level or above, and to have worked across a variety of consumer magazines.

Reporting to:
Editor

Key responsibilities:
• Training and development of the production editor
• Deputising for the editor as and when necessary
• Planning and commissioning sections of the magazine
• Writing and editing copy
• Contributing ideas for cover, packaging and promotions for the magazine
• Updating the magazine website and social media

Skills and experience required:
Essential
• Educated to degree level
• 2 years’ experience as a production editor or equivalent role
• Commissioning skills
• Management skills
• Impeccable spelling and grammar
• Experience of working across a variety of consumer magazines
• Passion for magazine craft
• Teamwork skills and aptitude for leadership

Desirable
• Knowledge of the craft market
• Previous management experience
