We are looking for a keen individual to work at our Central London office in Shaftesbury Avenue.

The contract is for six months with the possibility of it being extended by a further six months.

Responsibilities:
Give support to Yahoo! News UK:
• Research relevant, interesting, trending and timely ideas for news and features
• Conduct research for news articles and features
• Write engaging and topical articles when required and as directed by the senior editor or news editor
• Source required images from pre-approved providers
• Build galleries with fun, compelling commentary appropriate for the Yahoo! audience
• Write headlines and short text commentary for updates on the News homepage and other main pages
• Contribute to daily and weekly brainstorming sessions
• Prepare approved packages for the Yahoo! Front Page
• Support editorial operations
• Help with basic QA and bug management
• Perform other administrative duties as and when required
Requirements:
• Proven knowledge of internet journalism and how it’s different to other mediums
• Editorial background with good understanding of what makes a compelling story
• Must be proficient at writing engaging News articles
• Proven interest in online news
• Proven interest in current affairs
• Strong photo selection skills
• Working knowledge of Photoshop
• Web publication knowledge (experience of using content management systems) is preferred
• Quick learner, able to make decisions, multi-task and prioritise in a timely manner
• Fluent English speaker with clear knowledge of, and interest in, British popular culture
• NCTJ training preferable
• Degree level education
