Art editor for Bike magazine

Bike magazine is looking for a creative genius to help it tell the most compelling stories in motorcycling.
Working with the best writers, photographers and bikes in the business your job will be to inspire our readers each month with a breath-taking visual package.
We need an art editor who can communicate with elegance and authority, who can create clean but impactful pages, and develop a design style that connects with the UK’s most informed and passionate motorcyclists.

Your responsibilities will range from creating imaginative design treatments to briefing photographers and illustrators. The ability to make the best picture selections to communicate the story, treat and retouch images and prepare fully digital pages for press is essential, as is extensive knowledge of typography. Candidates will need to be expert in Adobe Creative Suite CS5 (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).

An interest in bikes would be useful, while an empathy with those who ride and read about them is essential.
Working as part of the team on the publishing hub, the art editor will concentrate on a single title, while also being required to work across the various motorcycle magazines in Bauer’s portfolio: Bike, Classic Bike, Ride, Performance Bikes and Practical Sportsbikes, delivering pages that meet the demanding requirements of individual editors and the head of publishing.

To apply, please email a covering letter and CV to Mark Hamilton at mark.hamilton@bauermedia.co.uk
