Are you as comfortable following the Britain’s Got Talent results as you are getting to grips with Greece’s financial meltdown? Do you like to take complex or off-beat stories & wrestle them into simple digestible form? If so, then you may be what we’re looking for.

Britain’s leading highbrow populist weekly is changing. We are seeking an ambitious & self-starting new reporter to join our Editorial Department based in Glasgow.

In this role, you will create ideas & write & generate regular pieces for The Big Issue nationwide, both in the magazine and online. You will also carry out special projects from time to time as requested by the Editor.

To be successful for this position, you should be a journalism graduate & have some experience in a working editorial office. You will need to possess very strong writing skills, both for news & longer features & have proven experience of sourcing off-diary stories. You will need to have an excellent eye for detail & demonstrate an ability to work to tight deadlines handling high volumes of content while delivering accuracy & quality.

You will need to be creative, resourceful, hardworking & committed, coming to us with fresh ideas to tackle articles that engage & excite our readers. The position offers a lively environment where the emphasis is on enjoying your work, dedication to the task, and a strong team attitude. A commitment to the social objectives of The Big Issue is essential.

Closing date: Friday 29th June 2012
