Role purpose
The role involves helping to shape and realign the content proposition for one of the UK’s biggest retailers, with a particular focus on their social media channels. This is a highly strategic role that will involve working alongside the client and our strategists to develop a new vision for content, then building a team to deliver it day-to-day.
Main responsibilities:
Content strategy development
• Work with the client and Zone staff to define the business objectives that will inform the strategy
• Assess the needs and objectives of multiple stakeholders within the client’s business
• Demonstrate insight into the audience and how we should engage them
• Identify where there are opportunities to build upon or realign existing strategies
• Create new tone of voice guidelines
• Demonstrate thought leadership and innovation to ultimately deliver a full content strategy to transform the brand’s digital presence
Content delivery
• Oversee the creation of content for distribution across web and social media platforms
• Ensure all content achieves its potential maximum reach through implementing search engine optimisation best practice and strategic cross-platform promotion
• Encourage user engagement through growing active communities on the brand’s social platforms.
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the brand, including liaising with external agencies, the account management of the brand and legal and editorial sign off
Leadership and management
• Recruit and build an editorial team to deliver content across all channels on a day-to-day basis
• Ensure that your team has regular appraisals, clear objectives and a career plan to work towards
Essential skills required
• Experience developing content strategy for brands, particularly across social media channels
• Demonstrable experience of delivering editorial expertise and insight in the retail sector at a senior level
• Substantial experience in the operational management of a major consumer website and/or social media channels including the planning, conception, commissioning and delivery of digital content
• Excellent knowledge of search engine optimisation
• Excellent client management skills
