Community Care is the leading publication for social workers and social care professionals. We are read by around 300,000 unique users each month. Following the closure of print last year, we are now a digital-only publication. This change is allowing us to innovate and create new types of engaging content for our readers, who work with some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Challenges facing our readers include protecting children and adults from neglect and abuse at a time of staff shortages and massive public sector funding cuts.
We are looking for creative, talented people to innovate with us and explore the potential that digital platforms create.
This work will be on a freelance, project-by-project basis.
Key skills required include:
Confidence to not necessarily need a word count, with ability to select and chose right treatment for content, be that video, audio, slide show, interactive graphic etc
Ability to record and edit audio and video content
Digitital engagement skills: aware of latest digital developments and free tools/apps to create content and confidence to use these to experiment in creating content
Willingness to to take pictures, upload and rezise them
Strong grasp of the basics: ability to write clear, concise, jargon-free copy that needs minimal editing
Understanding of what makes social workers and social care professionals tick, or willingness to acquire this
Understanding of and willingness to use and engage with social media to shape and create content
Familiarility with blogging platforms and ability to decide what content is most suited to a blog and when
Understanding of basics of web design: ie what does and doesn't work online
Commerical awareness: Community Care is a business and content has to help us meet strategic business goals
