About The Role

Job duties include coordinating and editing all news coverage in print and online, both daily breaking news and in-depth analysis. The News Editor will manage news coverage from our network of staff writers/reporters and foreign correspondents. Responsibilities will include assigning and editing all copy and posting online, as well as coordinating Screen’s daily email newsletters. Will also supervise news coverage for daily editions at major film festivals including Cannes and Berlin. News Editor will also coordinate other multi-media content on the website, including photos, video, blogs or podcasts; as well as packaging magazine content for web presentation and creating microsites and new content areas as required. Some writing/reporting will be involved in addition to editing, and the News Editor will also represent Screen in the market. Position is based in London but some travel required.

About The Person

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with extensive experience working in news for a business-oriented publication (including reporting experience), as well as web experience, including work with content management systems. Candidates should have a minimum of two years news editing experience in a daily online environment. Should have demonstrable news judgment and comfort dealing with financial data. This position will require working in a fast-paced news environment but also possessing careful attention to detail and understanding long-term planning. Ability to supervise news budget also required. Film industry knowledge and contacts are useful. Good people skills are vital.
