Job Description
Editor, Lifestyle, Yahoo! UK & Ireland
Job Number: 1244278
Primary Location: United Kingdom-United Kingdom-London
Description
Yahoo! is the premier digital media company. We deliver your world, your way by creating deeply personal digital experiences that keep more than half a billion people connected to what matters most – across devices and around the globe. And it's the Yahoos behind the scenes who make this all possible. We are energetic, idea-driven people who are passionate about shaping the future of the digital world. If this sounds like you, come and show us what you've got.
Yahoo! Lifestyle is one of the top three women’s lifestyle sites in the UK & Ireland, with more than 4m unique users each month (Comscore; April 2012).
We’re looking for an editor to run the site – and to help us take it to the next level in content, voice and reputation.
As editor, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation of our small (but growing) in-house team.
You will manage freelancers, work with feed content providers and liaise with international colleagues.
You will also assist the senior editor with strategic planning and special events coverage.
To be considered for the role, you'll need experience as an editor or deputy editor of a major women's interest website or section, and know exactly what makes female users click. Excellent knowledge of the core pillars of the site, including fashion, beauty, food, relationships and interiors, is essential.
You'll have exceptional editorial skills (writing, commissioning and editing), and experience of video production would be an advantage.
You’ll have a proven understanding of when and where to find the best stories, and will be used to turning them around quickly. You’ll be adept at identifying trends and writing compelling, SEO-compliant copy. You’ll also know how to get the most from social media (beyond posting links to stories) and UGC.
You’ll also have a contacts book full of relevant writers, PRs and experts.
Sound like you? Get in touch today.
