Ideal Home, Britain’s bestselling homes magazine, is published by IPC Media’s SouthBank division. There are 12 issues of the magazine per year, plus supplements. An opportunity has arisen in its busy, four-strong subbing team for a creative deputy chief.
Key responsibilities:
• Checking facts and mastering house style
• Fitting layouts with sensitivity
• Rewriting and generating copy
• Proofreading and giving feedback to team members
• Managing flatplans
• Managing production and keeping the magazine on schedule
Desired skills and experience:
• Experience as a deputy chief or senior sub in the homes or women’s-interest market
• Proficiency in InDesign and Word
• Excellent command of English, with solid subbing skills and a talent for writing
• Knowledge of proof marks
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Good communication/interpersonal skills and proactive attitude
• Ability to work under pressure quickly, accurately and with good humour
• Experience of managing production systems
• Flatplanning experience an advantage
