What’s in Store directory
wgsn.com

What’s in Store is WGSN’s most widely used directory and is an invaluable industry resource. We cover the latest retail trends from store windows across the globe including product trends and visual merchandising.

I’m looking for an intern to assist with the What’s in Store directory reports. The position will involve:
• Tagging our photographs for our extensive image library.
• Building reports using the WGSN CMS
• Writing reports for the site giving comprehensive analysis for the global market.
• Training in retail window photography (Unfortunately we are unable to send interns abroad so this will be in London).
• Attending retail ‘safaris’ in London with members of the retail and trends teams where we discuss retail from a particular view point.

The ideal candidate will have a good work ethic and be prepared to turn their hand to any task. The more they are willing to put in the more they will get out. Photography skills are an advantage. Writing skills are a necessity.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain a great overview of the global retail industry and understand how buyers, designers and merchandisers use retail information to inform their work. It’s also a great chance to work at WGSN and see how we operate.

The placement is full time (Monday – Friday 9.30 – 5.30).
It is unpaid although we will cover travel expenses London zones 1-3

Working in WGSN What’s In Store has enabled me to develop my analytical skills as well as specific product and fabric knowledge. Drawing lines from the macro trends and seeing how they translate into the different aspects of the store offering has been very interesting. I will definitely make use of everything I have learnt at my time here, it’s been great!

Grace Cowlard, Internation Fashion Marketing student, Manchester Met
"Working with the What’s In Store team has been amazing in translating all that I learnt in lecture theatres to real on-the-job experience of fashion journalism and the trend forecasting industry. My time at WGSN has enabled me to put skills in photography, research and editorial writing into practice in a ridiculously creative yet friendly environment, as a job role that I now want to pursue as a career. I would recommend this placement to anyone with an eye for trends and a commitment to fashion research – thanks for everything. "
