The Mergermarket Group is seeking an experienced copy editor based in its London offices on the Strand. This responsible role will involve general copy editing duties as well as working with the journalists to shape stories that meet output requirements and conform to the company’s compliance guidelines. The candidate will also be expected to play a part in ensuring that our output reflects any breaking news throughout the day.
The role would most likely suit either a current reporter or editor but the most important aspect is a keen eye for detail, a sense of urgency and a great degree of flexibility.
Mergermarket is part of the Financial Times Group and offers a number of products to subscribers in the corporate advisory and hedge fund communities. As such, while no previous experience of these industries is strictly necessary, the successful candidate will need to gain a quick understanding of who will be reading the stories he or she publishes and their expectations.
This role will involve:
• Editing and publishing financial news stories on a rolling deadline basis
• Seeking out and processing breaking news announcements.
• Ensuring compliance with in-house editorial guidelines.
• Being a team player.
• Adjusting working hours to suit the needs of the desk on any given day.
