Location: Inverness, CA
Positions are available at the Pulitzer Prize-winning Point Reyes Light, located in Marin County, California. We are a weekly newspaper covering the environmental, agricultural, cultural and civic life of coastal Marin's rural communities with quality writing and independent reporting. Our investigative reporting receives gold medals. Interns must be prepared to produce several stories a week on a variety of topics. Interns do not regurgitate press releases but are instead expected to conduct in-depth reporting, produce thoughtful writing and thoroughly fact-check their work. Recent interns were accepted into internships at Mother Jones magazine and PBS NewsHour, and enrolled in Columbia University's graduate school of journalism. We are looking for an independent, mature person with a passion for community journalism, storytelling and the English language to join our small editorial team. Interns are paid a $500 monthly stipend. Start date: August 31, 2012. Duration: four months. Must have car and find housing in West Marin.
