TNT Magazine is looking for a travel editor to join its fast-paced offices in east London. Managing the largest section of the UK's oldest free publication, this role is not for the faint-hearted.
You'll be a master at juggling myriad tasks, from commissioning and editing to writing and subbing. A contacts book brimming with talented freelancers and industry insiders is essential, as is the ability to meet daily deadlines, balance budgets and turn features around within hours.
The ideal candidate will have an unbridled passion for travel, will know the backpacking circuit inside out, and is a stickler for details. You’ll not be afraid of hard work and already have experience as a section editor.
As well as working on the weekly print magazine, you'll be turning copy around quickly and accurately on a daily basis for the web, using SEOs and uploading them using our CMS.
Our small team of journalists are expected to have a good knowledge of social media - and understand the benefits of using this medium for features.
You'll be trained to NCTJ level or equivalent, have good working knowledge of InDesign, and understand journalism isn't a 9-5 job.
To apply, send:
A cover letter detailing your current salary;
200 words describing the TNT reader;
Three examples of your work;
and a 100-word pitch – including headlines and sells – for each of the following sections: UK Trip, Short Break and Big Trip.
Email careers@tntmagazine.com with 'Travel Editor' in the subject.
Deadline for applications is midday on Tuesday, 7 August. Please note, only candidates that make it through to the interview stage will be contacted.
