Location: Los Angeles, CA
Description: Are you looking to break out from a narrow beat or local market and cover the top issues and trends in American business? Investor’s Business Daily is seeking a full-time business reporter who can grasp the big picture and quickly provide timely and thought-provoking news and analysis to a national audience of print and Internet readers.
We're looking for a team player who can deliver a steady flow of crisp and insightful stories for the front page and, between deadlines, would enjoy rolling up the shirt-sleeves and working as needed with other members of our team to write, condense or edit the key news of the day. The ideal candidate has experience covering companies and business trends, an interest in the stock market, a strong understanding of financial statements and an awareness of the political and regulatory issues affecting business. We want someone who can recognize the not-so-obvious stories that no one else sees and who isn't afraid to challenge the conventional wisdom.
The reporter most likely will be based at our Los Angeles headquarters but could possibly work out of our Silicon Valley or Washington offices or another location.
IBD is a national newspaper and financial website known for innovative coverage and fact-based analysis of the stock market, economy, business and public policy. We offer an environment that encourages learning and professional growth and the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of how to invest successfully. We will provide training on using computer databases and stock charts to analyze companies and glean trends.
At least five years of relevant journalism experience is preferred but will consider other candidates with strong skills. A four-year college degree is required.
Submit resume, cover letter and at least three writing samples to IBDnewsjobs@investors.com. Writing samples can be attached as Word documents or PDFs or pasted into the message. Please put Business Reporter in the email subject field. MENTION GORKANA WHEN APPLYING!
