Intelligent Media Solutions (IMS), a dynamic publishing company involved in magazine publishing, new media and marketing solutions, based in Islington, London. We are a fast-moving, driven and ambitious team where leading from the front is a pre-requisite. Our team is made up with some very talented individuals who together produce 8 publications and websites, from concept to content, media sales to look and feel and of course the all important finished product!
We have an opening for an editor - we want talented people, with experience.
Editor
Experience writing for print and online, managing workloads and meeting deadlines. An excellent eye for detail and a passion for doing things well. Keen to make your mark in magazine journalism, Keen to take ownership and the responsibility that comes with it.
Minimum 2 years experience.
About the role
Working with the managing editor and deputy editor to plan, write and manage editorial content across our business supplies titles. Across both print and digital platforms, our role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, interesting editorial team. This will include writing and editing a wide range of articles ranging from news analysis and business management articles to features and interviews, research pieces and some commissioning. You will work to maintain and strengthen our magazines’ position as the leading, agenda-setting titles in their sector.
Delivering focused, original and cutting edge editorial has been the cornerstone of our success, so the ability to grow and develop the editorial content of the magazine is a must. An enhanced digital presence for 2012, to include blogs, daily news and comment pieces and sticky content in the shape of competitions, giveaways, and lifestyle articles is at the top of our agenda so confidence in writing across both print and digital platforms is essential.
You will also be expected to attend meetings, interviews and conferences, developing key industry and sector contacts, planning and researching, coming up with ideas, suggestions and hot leads, and always writing to deadline.
About You
Our roles are both fast moving and varied, so you need to be excellent at working under pressure and to very tight deadlines, as well as being a fastlearner, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for doing things well is essential. You will have tenacity and a real nose for news, be able to tackle complex issues and present them well, have first-class writing and interviewing skills and a proven writing ability. You’ll be a positive, outgoing person with a can-do attitude, able to instigate, develop and keepgood relationships with sector contacts. It is also important that you have a strategic mind and are keen to work in business-to-business publishing. Excellent communications skills are a must, as you‘ll be expected to work in a small, busy team, in a sometimes pressured environment. Experience of, or working knowledge in and of our sectors would be a bonus, but not essential.

The Package
Basic salary – £21,000-£26,000 dependent on skills and experience.
Plus year-end bonus.
