The Team
Reporting to the Men’s Editors, this role sits within the marketing department, specifically within the editorial team and supports the Head of Editorial, Senior Men’s Editor and the Deputy Men’s Editor.

The Editorial Assistant also works with the magazine Editorial teams, the Creative and Development teams as well as the Strategy and Communications teams. Ability to work alongside Fashion Finder and Marketplace editorial staff and harmoniously with the wider Retail, Merchandising and Technical teams is crucial.

The Detail
Content & Publishing (site newsletters, magazines and devices)
Develop new and relevant weekly multi-media feature ideas that will make ASOS.com, newsletters, social channel content outstanding in the retail and editorial marketplace.

Create and manage weekly emails

Work with the retail department to consistently communicate the most relevant stories to our customer in the most credible way, and coordinate and deliver weekly newsletter features. Ensure these are published on time by writing and shooting content to schedule. Be aware of any retail and merchandise changes that change the newsletter schedule.

Be aware of customer profile.

Communicate newsletter report headlines to Men’s editorial team and take appropriate editorial actions based on marketing insight into seasonal trends and profiles. Be aware of homepage and newsletter reports, identify the bigger seasonal shopping habits and take actions based on these insights.

Contribute to content development for ASOS apps for mobile and iPad.
Understand SEO principles and keep abreast of online publishing developments.

Ensure highest quality editorial content on ASOS by employing the greatest attention to detail, applying a meticulous approach to self-subbing of all copy.

Support the Men’s Editor by assisting the Fashion Finder and Marketplace Editorial teams when asked.

Provide writing support when necessary for ad hoc copy requests from press department, social, customer services etc.

Support Editorial department by deputizing for senior members for the team during holiday and annual leave periods.

Represent ASOS at key events and press days.

Some key skills that you need...

Essential
• Substantial prior experience in fashion writing and styling
• A robust knowledge of the fashion industry
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
• Collaborative approach and a strong team player
• An in-depth knowledge of menswear and the editorial landscape
• An eye for spotting the latest, up and coming style and lifestyle trends relevant to our audience
• Knowledge of the factors that contribute to making a successful online fashion media destination
• Great fashion and publishing contacts
• Able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Preferable
• A degree (or equivalent) in journalism, fashion or media
• An understanding of the principles of SEO and Social Media
• Basic Photoshop skills
• Experience using CMS and HTML training
