Company: Cohn & Wolfe
Job Status: Internship (1-3 month paid placement)
Location: London, UK
Cohn & Wolfe Healthcare work with many of the major global pharmaceutical companies including Bayer Healthcare, Boehringer Ingelheim, MSD and Novartis. We not only work in ethical pharmaceuticals spanning a range of disease areas - oncology, diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and hepatitis C, but we also provide PR support to two of the leading professional associations, the European Association for the Study of Liver (EASL) and the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR). In addition, we work in partnership with our Consumer team on a number of consumer healthcare brands.
We pride ourselves on developing truly integrated communications programmes – shaping national, regional and international healthcare environments, building brands, effectively profiling corporate reputation and managing the consumer thirst for health information. Our current client mix means one day we are devising pre-launch strategy for an innovative new treatment and the next we are executing a patient campaign to raise awareness of a particular disease area or health issue. Cohn & Wolfe’s Healthcare practice is enjoying an enormously high level of energy and excitement following numerous large new business wins throughout 2011, providing significant and varied experience opportunities for every team member.
We are a friendly, supportive and industrious team who are growing fast. We are diverse and made up of some of the brightest people in the business from backgrounds including the NHS, media and pharma. We foster an innovative culture where all team members have a say and responsibility for how the practice is shaped and evolved and we encourage people to strive for their ambitions. We have a positive work ethic and everyone, no matter what level, is happy to roll up their sleeves and turn their hand to any task. We look for people who share similar values to us but also bring their own fresh thinking, insights and sense of humour.
We are now looking to bolster our junior team with the addition of a Healthcare Intern, to support the team across a number of different activities.
You will have a strong passion for science with an interest in communicating about complex health issues to different audiences. Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level, a science background is useful however not essential, and any previous PR experience is valuable. A willingness to learn on the job and take on any challenge is essential.
We are looking for people who have their finger on the pulse of healthcare issues across the globe, have a natural ability to multi-task and manage deadlines and are confident in their writing skills. Equally as important is an ambitious and fun spirit coupled with a strong desire to work as part of a highly successful team.
