Award-winning website gardenersworld.com delivers practical, easy-to-follow advice to a loyal audience of gardeners. We’re looking for an experienced sub-editor with good horticultural knowledge to join our friendly, hard-working team.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in a sub-editor position, with experience of working in digital media, and of using content management systems. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to work under pressure, manage deadlines and prioritise tasks accordingly. In addition to first class sub-editing and writing skills, you will have a sound practical knowledge of horticulture, ideally supported by formal qualifications.
Reporting to the Website Editor, typical duties will include: sub-editing site content, ensuring factual and grammatical accuracy of all content published; making regular site updates in the content management system; creating weekly email newsletter and assisting with social media activity; sourcing, building and administering competitions; and identifying gaps in site content and repurposing archive material for the website.
