Landlove, Deputy Editor

Hubert Burda Media, based in Colchester, is looking for an experienced Deputy Editor to work on an exciting new consumer magazine.

Reporting to the Editor, the Deputy Editor will:
* assist with the overall production of the magazine
* contribute inspiring editorial ideas
* write features
* sub-edit copy
* source images and illustrations
* manage costings
* co-ordinate German to English translations
* represent the magazine at launches and events where appropriate
* work closely with the Editor on the overall strategy of the magazine
* contribute content and images for the website, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter sites

The role requires a passionate and authoritative candidate with a passion for dazzling copy, eye-catching layouts and gorgeous images. You’ll be full of great ideas, but you will also need to be a first class copy editor with at least three years' solid subbing and writing experience.

You will have experience in Quark and have impeccable spelling and grammar, as well as meticulous proof-reading skills. Writing attention-grabbing heads, snappy sells and must-read coverlines will be second nature to you.

The role includes sourcing, writing and commissioning exciting and informative features. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of generating original, exciting and developed content and will be clearly capable of applying their expertise across all areas of the magazine including features, interviews, food, homes, gardens, travel, crafts, heritage, wildlife and nature.

You’ll possess a passion for Britain’s countryside, traditions and heritage. With an outgoing personality, you’ll be happy to scour the length and breadth of the country for potential feature ideas and fascinating people to interview. With this in mind a full, clean driving licence is a must.

The ideal candidate will be an unflappable multitasker who thrives under pressure and always goes that extra mile.
