The Role:
To create, edit, write and layout the editorial content of a magazine (published 2-4 times a year) covering the UK Parentingsector(children 0-8).This is a varied and fascinating role, where you will be creating and working alongside a highly motivated and extremely successful sales team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is either looking to take on their first editorship or for an experienced individual with children who is seeking an interesting, varied and hands on editorial role. The position offers a good deal of autonomy and will provide the opportunity to gain first hand experience of this extremely interesting market. This role is an opportunity to work very closely with the CEO with a view todeveloping further exciting and successful projects.
Key Features:
To create news and feature articles for the publication, associated website and web bulletins.
To manage contributors and costs so that the publication is produced on time and to budget.
To maybe develop revenue streams from the product pages in the magazines
To build relationships with governmental bodies, opinion leaders, key clients and PR contacts in the sectors served by the publication and to be a figure head for the product.
Layout the editorial pages of the publication, make to PDF’s and forward to the printers
To set and ensure editorial standards are met and exceeded.
To demonstrate keen commercial awareness and actively work with the sales teams to enhance the commercial viability of the product.
To establish good working relations with all other staff
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Computer literate – In-Design, PC & Mac knowledge and experience of CMS systems
First class interpersonal and communication skills in all circumstances
Excellent and proven report writing skills
Excellent feature writing skills
Excellent subbing and proof reading
Organisational skills and ability to meet demanding deadlines
A flexible team player
Neat & Presentable
An understanding of the commercial realities of b2c and b2b publishing
Ideal:
Previous market related experience
Have children of your own(not critical)
HTML coding experience
