Mobile Phones Reviewer or Editor (title depends on experience), CNET
An opportunity has opened up at CNET for a Mobile Phones Reviewer or Editor to join our award-winning editorial team in London. If you have passion for mobile phones, technology in general and a history of producing fantastic content, we want to hear from you.
You will be responsible for making sure that CNET's coverage of mobile phones is the very best in the business by creating up-to-the minute, exciting, fresh and relevant content on mobile phones and tablets.
You will form excellent relationships with the mobile phone industry, secure numerous exclusives for the site, writing news, reviews, how to pieces, blogs, buying advice pieces and presenting videos.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Research and write product reviews, product round-ups, blog stories, buying guides and features
Present videos and podcasts Determine the products, services and issues to write about using industry knowledge and site data
Select, source, receive, care for and return reviews inventory
Ensure that reviews are technically sound, are of good quality and meet the needs of the CNET reader.
Continually reviewing testing procedures with global stakeholders to guarantee that all products are thoroughly and properly tested
Ensure sufficient quantities of reviews and other content are generated to hit production targets
Maintain an active presence answering product-related questions from users and partaking in tech-related discussions on CNET and its brand extensions, including social media
Attend industry events, press conferences and trade shows in the UK and overseas as required
Build up a network of industry contacts in order to stay in touch with new product announcements and source review kit, especially exclusive products/ stories
Develop expertise and become the in-house expert on mobile phones, handhelds and related technologies
Take photos for the brand where required and ensure photography skills are at the level required for publishing on CNET
Regularly contribute to CNET's social media extensions on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms as decided from time to time
Work with CNET stakeholders in other offices as required
Person Specification
A passion for all things tech, especially mobile phones, combined with an in-depth knowledge of the subject
A portfolio of published work, on a personal or professional website/ newspaper/ magazine
Educated to degree level, or professional equivalent
Strong writing skills, including the ability to write in a variety of styles
A flair for writing and editing accurate, accessible and entertaining copy
Ability to do accurate work to tight deadlines and cope with a demanding workload
Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
