We are looking for an Overnight News Editor to join our busy Daybreak team. As our News Editor you will commission and pursue stories overnight for Daybreak, briefing producers and deploying correspondents. You will work closely with the Bulletin Editor and Night Editor to ensure Daybreak harnesses the best stories, liaising with ITV News colleagues in the ITN and the ITV Regional newsrooms.
You will be a qualified journalist to NCTJ level or equivalent and have substantial experience working as a News Editor on a national TV news operation.You will be able to demonstrate your skills in creative journalism, editorially and visually to make our news content engaging and relevant to our audience. With your knowledge of legal, Ofcom compliance and Health and Safety guidelines and your excellent editorial judgementyou will be able to make informed decisions confidently and to tight deadlines. Previous experience in an overnight role would be beneficial but not essential.
The shift pattern for the role is 5 shifts over seven days, once every 2 weeks
