Bloomberg News seeks a reporter to cover German politics from Berlin. Knowledge of the German political and legal system, the economy and a basic understanding of financial markets is essential. Fluency in English and German is required.
The successful candidate will produce breaking news stories under real-time deadline pressure and write clearly written and comprehensive stories in German. The candidate must have the news judgment to cover the beat with minimal supervision, break news through interviews and write features on a broad range of topics, from economic and fiscal policy to financial market regulation. Excellent contacts among German politicians are a distinct advantage.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, a journalism qualification or equivalent work experience is desirable.
- Previous journalism experience is required.
- Experience of working in a real-time news environment is desirable.
- Excellent command of German is essential.
- Contacts with German politicians desirable.
