NewScientist.com, Online Producer - London

New Scientist is looking for an online producer to take the controls of newscientist.com. If you've got experience with web publishing platforms and content management systems, and you want to take your skills to the next level, this job is an opportunity to get behind the wheel of a site visited by millions of people from around the world.

Working in our central London offices, you'll be responsible for publishing words, images, video and interactive graphics onto the site hour by hour using our in-house content management system. You'll be confident dealing with a torrent of content from a busy newsroom, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy. You'll be the editorial team's star statistics wrangler, extracting the meaningful metrics we need to inform our planning. And you'll be the person the team relies on to solve their web production problems.

You should have experience using a content management system such as WordPress, ideally understanding how to make a few customisations of your own. You should have a good grasp of HTML, using embed code for extras such as YouTube videos and Google Maps, and ideally some understanding of JavaScript. You should also have some knowledge of how to use web stats packages such as SiteCatalyst or Google Analytics. A background in science, experience of proofreading and journalism, and basic image editing skills using Photoshop would also be useful.
