BBC Sky at Night Magazine – the UK’s biggest monthly space and astronomy magazine – is looking for a talented editorial assistant to provide research, writing, fact checking and general admin support to the editorial team.

This is a great opportunity to develop skills across print and digital editions of the magazine and would suit an editorial all-rounder with a passion for communicating science. Day-to-day responsibilities will include: researching and commissioning upcoming features, writing regular sections of the magazine, and researching material to create the magazine's monthly coverdisc.

You will also be responsible for the day-to-day running of the magazine's website: uploading and writing compelling content for it, and managing its social media presence – so being Facebook and Twitter savvy is essential.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic when working under pressure and happy to help across the magazine and website on additional tasks outside your usual responsibilities as and when needed.

This position will suit someone who has a natural flair for writing (Note: a writing test will form part of the interview process) and organisation, and has a sharp eye for detail. You will almost certainly have experience of working in a magazine team, even if as an intern, and will be able to show you have a passion for science, especially astronomy.
