The Role:    

In this position the individual will write and collaborate on real time news stories covering the global credit markets. Specific emphasis will be reporting on new issue and trading of leveraged loans and/or high-yield bonds.  The reporter will interview major players in the field, including bankers, traders, and investors. In addition to heavy telephone contact during business hours, this job includes extensive market contact representing LCD at conferences and in source meetings both during office hours and in the evenings.

The Impact:

LCD averages around 60 stories daily that reach over 35,000 subscribers. This is a highly visible role that plays a significant part of keeping up a broad client base appraised of market events, and also increasing LCD’s profile in the global credit markets generally.  Continuity and market breadth is essential to customers who use LCD to make business decisions in leveraged finance and gauge competition and trends.

The Career Opportunity: 

This position offers the opportunity to broaden market knowledge through crossover coverage of various market segments. Opportunity to collaborate outside of LCD with other groups under the S&P Global Market Intelligence umbrella. . Individual will develop market expertise to become a go-to source on this subject.

The Team / The Business

They would be joining a group of seasoned financial journalists that work within an open and collaborative setting. LCD News is a collaborative team that fosters growth, learning, and innovation.

Your Skills:

Understanding of fundamental credit market mechanics (i.e., how transactions are originated, distributed, portfolios are managed, primary and secondary pricing). Experience as a journalist, particularly in the financial markets, and strong technical writing skills. Detail oriented with excel skills and ability/experience to work with financial data.

Your Skills: 

  •  Four to five years’ experience as a journalist, particularly in the financial markets.
  •  Strong technical writing skills necessary to keep up with the requirements of being a journalist. 
  •  Experience with writing blog posts 
  •  The ability to work with financial data.
  •  Excellent verbal & written communications skills are necessary to ensure that not only is the writing produced clear and concise, but that all interactions with the market, including interviews, are as effective as possible.
  •  The ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment is due to the daily and weekly production of LCD news products is very much a team effort.
