The Associate Editor will be chiefly responsible for the generation of engaging and shareable content, ranging from short form social focussed
content to longer, meatier features.

This will include generating ideas for, researching and writing content, as well as commissioning freelance contributors.

The Associate Editor will be responsible for ensuring all beats (including fashion, style, grooming, fitness, watches and lifestyle) are adequately
represented in the content mix.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate a constant flow of ideas for engaging, shareable content
  • Commission articles from a team of freelance and inhouse writers
  • Write and edit content, ensuring a consistent tone of voice
  • Liaise with the picture desk to oversee the layout and appearance of content
  • Raise the profile of FashionBeans within the industry by attending key events and parties, as well as managing core brand and agency contacts
  • Foster new, and nourish existing, relationships with core PR, brand and agency contacts

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • At least three years’ experience in an editing role, preferably online
  • An excellent writer with superb attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of, and passion for, men’s style and lifestyle
  • Come with a stable of high quality freelance writing talent
  • Solid understanding of Google Analytics, being able to spot visitor trends and apply insights to content
  • Ability to identify social media trends and quickly turn around relevant content to capitalise on them
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, managing both remote and in-house writers to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Keen interest in attending industry events and parties, confident in acting as an ambassador for FashionBeans and expanding its network of contacts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Journalism, English Literature, or similar
  • Experience using a CMS, particularly Wordpress
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience using Photoshop or similar image editing software
  • Experience managing social channels (including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) for a brand or publication
