NBC News Digital is looking for a journalist to join its London team.

The successful candidate will be an unflappable all-rounder who can comfortably and efficiently juggle multiple editorial tasks in a fast-paced environment. They will have a reputation as a self-starting reporter who boasts a nose for news, a way with words, a passion for storytelling and a flair for rewrite. A deep knowledge of U.S. affairs is essential.

They will also have the ability to act as a news editor for the site, generating ideas, commissioning and directing a team of reporters as required. They will enjoy carrying out rigorous edits and be skilled at finding ways to turn raw reporting into compelling digital content and identifying holes in stories. In addition, they will have top-notch news judgment and be a crisp and precise headline writer.

They will work closely with colleagues in NBC News’ international bureaus while demonstrating a keen understanding of stories that would interest a U.S. audience. A strong understanding and appreciation of social media is crucial.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Strong ability to write news and feature stories for digital platforms
  • Substantial experience writing for a major news organization
  • Experience editing copy for style, accuracy and clarity as well as headline writing 
  • Full English language capabilities
  • Eligible to work in the U.K.
  • Must be able to work weekends
