Stylist, Junior Commissioning Editor
Is your brain bursting with original ideas that you’re desperate to see in print? Can you persuade a high profile, in demand writer to take on a last minute commission - and have a thorough brief with them in under an hour?
Can you look at an article and immediately see what works and what doesn’t? Can you seamlessly weave in edits while skilfully keeping the original voice? Do you have a contacts book packed full of writers with fresh, new voices?
If you also have at least two years’ experience in a commissioning and editing role, then Stylist, the award-winning women’s weekly, wants to hear from you.
We’re recruiting for a Junior Commissioning Editor, to be second-in-command on our features desk with direct responsibility for all briefs and commissions.
Your day-to-day work will involve generating brilliant ideas, brainstorming creative formats, writing robust briefs, editing copy, and nurturing a new network of exciting freelance writers. Although there will be opportunities to write, this is predominantly an editing role.
Essential skills include excellent time management, a fail-safe ability to create clever, interesting copy, a fearsome work ethic and a passion for women’s magazines.
You will also be expected to offer help and support for brand events throughout the year.
If this sounds like the job for you and you have a least two years’ experience in a similar role on a national title, please send in your CV, a cover letter, and five well fleshed-out feature ideas with visual treatments c/o Stylist's Editorial Assistant Moya Lothian-McLean, by completing the application form below by 25 October 2016.
Please note: We thank you in advance for any applications; only candidates invited for interview will be contacted.
