OK! Online is seeking a talented journalist to oversee coverage of the latest celebrity news from the UK and USA. The ideal candidate will have a love and passion for all things celebrity, be brimming with ideas and have an exceptional contacts book.

They will have worked at a senior level on a similar celebrity news site and have experience at hitting high targets. They will have managed a medium sized team and be able to inspire those around them.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the OK! Online news team in order to drive towards daily and monthly traffic targets     
  • Manage the news list on a day-to-day basis while delegating stories to your team
  • Work closely with OK! Online Editor 
  • Write and edit news copy to a high standard
  • Use your PR and celebrity contacts to pull in exclusive interviews and news stories that will deliver a richness of content to the site
  • Assist in the development of OK! Online’s news team
  • Push content via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in accordance with OK! Online’s social media policy
  • Optimise stories in accordance with OK! Online’s SEO strategy
  • Be able to react quickly to breaking news
  • Wherever possible, identify unique headlines and angles for stories covered elsewhere to make OK! Online’s content more searchable
  • Manage, where needed, celebrity blogs
  • Constantly monitor all showbiz news websites and Twitter
  • The Online News Editor will also be expected to carry out some celebrity interviews and attend events


Key skills and experience:

  • Proven background working on an online news desk, sourcing celebrity exclusives and copy editing
  • Excellent management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, multitask, forward plan, develop relationships with PRs and management
  • Familiarity with CMS, Photoshop and Google Analytics
  • Understanding of different types of web traffic, and how to increase organic, referral, direct and search traffic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to nurture and develop writing talent
  • Professional understanding of journalism law
  • Understanding of the online celebrity market and the expectations of the OK! Online reader
  • Attention to detail and be up to date with developments in the celebrity world
  • Flexible approach to working hours
