We are looking for an experienced, highly driven journalist to create, plan and publish web articles for a farming readership of more than 150,000.

Who are we?

The National Farmers’ Union communications team is experiencing an exciting time of growth and development as the farming industry adapts to the prospect of a post-Brexit future. As the only organisation that champions farmers and growers in England and Wales the NFU is heard where it counts – locally, nationally and internationally.

About the role

Working as part of an in-house editorial team that has recently been commended for the website of the year at the PPA Digital Awards, the web editor will be responsible for planning, creating, publishing, monitoring and optimising exciting and informative content for NFU websites.

In addition to this, the web editor will be responsible for ensuring website material is up to a high standard and delivers for the evolving needs of the NFU.

This in as a unique opportunity for a proactive, creative and adaptable communications professional to shape this new digital role for the benefit of British farming.

About you

In this dynamic role, we are looking for an experienced journalist who is able to edit and write content for our portfolio of agricultural websites as well as our portfolio of print titles and social media platforms, when needed. Knowledge of farming is desirable but a strong appetite to learn about the British agricultural industry is a must.

You must have a proven track record of publishing web articles and digital content to illustrate key messages for online and print audiences; messages that help to achieve the strategic aims of the communications department.

You must have excellent written skills, a proven ability to write about technically complex issues, and you should be a proficient web publisher on websites, social media and email newsletters.

A self-starter and competent multitasker, you must also have demonstrable planning and organising skills while working under pressure.

To be successful in the role, it is essential that you have experience in web publishing, HTML, analytics and have an understanding of content management systems and user journeys.

Reporting directly to the Editor, you must be a strong team player and networker who can work with colleagues across our policy, food and farming, and regional teams.
