This is a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Editor to be responsible for creative content development on the new BBC Science and Technology features website, Future. BBC.com, a showcase of BBC content, currently reaches 62 million unique users every month and is the UK's number one most visited news website in the world. Based in the Media Centre, West London, you'll commission, write and take responsibility for certain columns, series and strands on the website.
Reporting to the Editor, you'll be responsible for commissioning and writing long-form features and columns on a range of science, technology and health subjects to agreed schedules and to BBC editorial standards. In addition, you'll play play an active role in the site’s social media strategy to drive traffic and increase engagement. Working with the editorial team to develop content plans, you'll be monitoring all competitive titles and international press and creating working relationships with new contributors both in the journalistic and science, technology and health worlds.
You'll be a seasoned Deputy Editor with substantial experience in writing and commissioning technology, science, health and environment content. Working as part of a news organization, you'll have an extensive digital experience, including knowledge of a CMS, HTML. We're looking for someone with excellent management skills combined with the ability to keep commissions on vision, on budget and on deadline.
