Sightsavers, Head of Media
Sightsavers has a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Media to join our team and ensure the effective leadership and delivery of Sightsavers media and social media activities with the aim of increasing our profile both in the UK and internationally.
Reporting to the Director News, you will be responsible for developing plans and strategies to build relationships with key journalists; this will involve pitching key stories to encourage support among key influencers and stakeholders. It will be your responsibility to lead and motivate the media team to achieve its goals and positively promote Sightsavers.
The ideal candidate will have excellent ability to identify new angles on campaigning and fundraising activities with strong experience of working with UK and global media outlets.
You will demonstrate significant experience of securing media coverage around policy and consumer campaigns and the ability to place international/development stories in the consumer, national and international media.
You will have excellent attention to detail with proven creativity. It is essential that you have strong oral and written communications skills, as well as a strong interest in international development, health and disability. Experience of managing a team and demonstrable experience of managing projects and budgets is essential.
