Digital communications represents a central role in helping to translate this collective conviction of purpose into continued growth for the business, and continued investment in the relationship with existing OVO Energy customers.

Supporting the public relations and social media teams, the Digital PR executive will help ensure the effective delivery and evaluation of activity that aims to build engagement and advocacy among external audiences.

Day-to-day, core responsibilities that will include:

  • Supporting PR team on digital PR, influencer engagement, corporate communications and social media community management
  • Providing pivotal support for exciting, new product launches and news announcements (related to smart homes, electric vehicles, and home batteries, etc.), as well as sponsorships and corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Reporting into the PR manager to provide press office support from developing media lists and press materials to handling reactive media inquiries,  tracking coverage and populating social channels
    • Drafting press materials, including media pitches, FAQs, briefing documents, journalist biographies, with supervision
    • Developing proactive pitch angles and conducting media relations
    • Maintaining media lists, pitch calendar and the collation and evaluation of media coverage on a regular basis
    • Providing timely and accurate media monitoring reports for key internal stakeholders about issues pertinent to the OVO business
    • Drafting and distributing key messages and collateral through PR channels (e.g. press office responses and social media posts)
  • Supporting OVO’s social media strategy through content generation, calendar management, audience development and community management
    • Fostering engagement and growth on OVO’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat
    • Managing editorial calendar for social media channels
    • Creating ideas on how to increase community engagement
    • Engaging influencers online, reacting to conversation and comment management of organic and paid content
    • Liaising with social customer service team on content
  • Managing subscriptions database and ensuring the effective management and timely renewal of supplier relationships (e.g. Gorkana, NLA licence)
  • Evaluating and reporting social content
  • Using social listening tools to identify key trends and stories
  • Collating activity reports for PR team on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Raising POs and managing tactical budgets for PR activity

Skills and Experience

  • 1-2 year’s experience in PR or a related field with an interest in digital PR 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience and/or interest in media relations and social media
  • Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience working collaboratively with teams and managing up to senior team players
  • Excellent news and operational judgment
  • Great degree and education background
