Newsquest Specialist Media Ltd (NSM) is an international media organisation based in the City providing specialist business-to-business and consumer information for a range of markets. NSM is looking for an ambitious and talented Assistant Editor to support the Insight and Data Team on the Insurance Times brand.

As Assistant Editor you will be expected to develop and drive the content of The Knowledge, the ambitiously original, visually rich and data-led monthly section of Insurance Times publication. You’ll therefore need to be a first-rate business journalist, brimming with ideas, and equally happy chatting to company CEOs as poring over a spreadsheet.

A key part of the role is building and manipulating datasets, so you’ll need strong numeracy skills and the ability to focus on detail when necessary. You will also be comfortable designing and implementing online surveys.

A key objective of this role is digital exploitation of The Knowledge content, so ideally you’ll have experience of creating and curating content for the web, as well an aptitude for video, both conducting interviews and editing. It goes without saying that you’ll also be a lucid, accurate writer and confident interviewer.

This is a senior role within the new data team at Insurance Times and would suit an ambitious reporter, senior reporter or features writer who is looking to develop into an editor role, with data and multimedia in the mix.

To apply, please send your CV and covering letter to Liz Bury, Insight & Data Development Editor at liz.bury@insurancetimes.co.uk. Your cover letter should explain how you demonstrate the skills and experience required in the role.

Newsquest Specialist Media is part of Newsquest Media Group, the UK’s second largest regional newspaper publishers and a wholly owned subsidiary of Gannett Corporation - the largest newspaper publisher in the United States.
