Observer Media is hiring a reporter for a position covering two parts of the commercial real estate world.

The reporter will write for both Wired City, a new vertical that explores the intersection of infrastructure, commercial real estate and broadband Internet and The Mortgage Observer and Mortgage Observer Weekly—two commercial real estate finance publications.

As New York City works to attract more tech tenants, commercial real estate has to rise to the challenge and respond with the broadband Internet upgrades that are so critical to attracting tech start-ups. With its notoriously old building stock, this means moving—and fast—on the infrastructure upgrades that Mayor Bloomberg proposed last year to get the ball rolling.

The Mortgage Observer and Mortgage Observer Weekly are a monthly magazine covering the people and trends behind the commercial mortgage market and an emailed newsletter primarily consisting of New York-focused news—financings, the CMBS market, new hires, Q&As, etc.

The successful candidate for this full-time position will write for the publications above, joining a commercial real estate team that includes Observer Media’s The Commercial Observer. This person should be aggressive and willing to track down a scoop.

Candidates should send their resume and some clips to Jotham Sederstrom, editor, The Commercial Observer, at jsederstrom@observer.com.

MAKE SURE TO MENTION GORKANA WHEN APPLYING!
