Global Trade Review (GTR), a bi-monthly magazine covering the world’s trade finance markets, is looking for a junior reporter.

With a truly global reach and offices in London and Hong Kong, GTR provides great opportunities for a first or second jobber with high journalistic ambitions.

Working in an editorial team of four, you will receive individual support but also get a chance to take initiative and make your mark on the magazine and website.

We won’t expect you to be an expert in banking and finance, but some understanding of business journalism is necessary, and you will be expected to get to grips with varied trade finance-related subject matters covering the world’s emerging markets.

You’ll be sourcing and writing 6 to 8 weekly news stories for our website, getting exclusive comments from senior industry figures. You will also be assigned longer feature stories for the magazine and annual supplements. As such you will need to be as comfortable turning around a 250-word news story as a 2,000-word feature.

GTR organises about 30 conferences around the world every year, and as part of the editorial team, you will regularly be asked to report from events in the UK and abroad. You’ll also be filming and editing news videos (2-plus a month) for the website (training will be provided where necessary).

Social media is also an increasingly important part of what we do, and reporters are responsible for running the publication’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts by uploading pics and generating discussions.

You will report to the deputy editor of the magazine.
