Overview of the Team and Business Unit

The Global Planning Producer must have a demonstrated ability to efficiently plan news and feature coverage, coordinating multimedia content created by Reuters’ worldwide staff of video, picture and text journalists.

The Global Planning Producer is based in London but will also work in close cooperation with senior Reuters TV colleagues in New York and Hong Kong.

This new position demands mature news judgment, solid writing ability and proven organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be used to inputting data into various CMS tools and ideally familiar with picture and video editing techniques. This full-time position involves occasional out of hours and weekend working.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Work with multimedia producers to prepare news packages for a 24-hour digital service
  • Help maintain the global editorial diary, forward plan and coordinate with colleagues
  • Work quickly, efficiently and accurately, while maintaining Reuters’ editorial standards


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Solid news judgment and knowledge
  • Significant experience of working in an international newsroom 
  • Knowledge of multi-media and video production
  • Ability to write in English to a high standard
  • Ability to work to deadlines while ensuring accuracy and adherence to company ethical and editorial standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to juggle competing demands
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of newsroom IT systems and using a CMS 
  • Knowledge of foreign languages
  • Understanding and experience of online and social media 
  • The ability to shoot primarily on P2 and/or DSLR would be a bonus
