The Catholic Herald, Commercial Director
The Catholic Herald is on the threshold of an exciting new era. Since we switched format from a 130-year-old broadsheet to a beautiful magazine in 2014 we’ve become the world’s most influential English-language Catholic publication. And next year we plan to launch in North America, where our website already has a huge following.
We now want to recruit a Commercial Director, reporting directly to the MD. Your primary duty will be to devise a business strategy that will drive up the magazine's print and digital subscriptions.
You'll work closely with high fliers in journalism to make our product irresistible – not just to Catholics but to anyone interested in the battle of ideas.
We're looking for a highly adaptable thinker capable of moving seamlessly between finances, marketing and digital.
We don’t want a CV. We want you to show us why you’re the right person for the job. Salary and commission will be discussed at the shortlist stage of the recruitment. It will depend on how much extra value you can bring to the company.
Email your covering letter to email@example.com explaining why you want to be our commercial director. In general terms, explain how you might build up print and digital subscriptions.
If you know an example of a magazine that has come up with a brilliant subscriptions game plan, tell us about it. Because you are an expert in publishing sales and are full of ideas you’ll know what to do.
