There are a few things our Editorial team love here at Which? - data and using it to tell stories that expose the problems facing consumers, particularly around what’s in their wallets and the personal finance issues that affect their everyday lives. Our ambition is to combine the two so our members can easily understand complex stories told visually.  This is where you come in.

If you have a nose for a good story and top-notch research and writing skills, and would jump at the chance to get your hands on exclusive Which? data (there’s a lot of it) we want to give you the chance to run with it.

This role is all about having the intuition and confidence to spot the narrative and turn it into engaging online visuals and compelling magazine investigations and research for our campaigns.

What you’ll be doing

Our 1.4 million members rely on us to tell them the stories that matter. Our flagship title Which? magazine has more than 633,000 subscribers and Which? Money is the best read personal finance title in the UK.

You’ll use our datasets and secondary sources to produce hard-hitting investigations - primarily in Which? Money, but also in Which? And Which? Travel, as well as for other outputs such as to help with our campaigning aims - that will feature both in print and online.

This is high-level investigative journalism and the work you’ll do can make a real difference to the lives of consumers.

This is primarily a desk-based role, but you will be required to use your networking skills to build external relationships with key contacts, and your varied approaches to investigative research may take you out-and-about to experience issues through the eyes of the consumer.

This is a chance to spread your influence through our whole investigative research team too, working with your colleagues to help them mine data in areas as diverse as travel, energy and health.

What we want to see from you

You have to be passionate about data journalism and data A bachelor’s or master’s qualification in a relevant subject, such as statistics or interactive/data journalism, is something we need to see.

You must have the skill to spot a good story when it comes along, plus excellent longer-term research,data-analysis skills and a hawk-like eye for detail. Finally, you need to show us your advanced skills in analysing data and creating data visualisations, including interactive maps and calculators.

We’d love it if you have experience of working on money consumer issues, but enthusiasm for investigating them is essential.

What we’ll give you in return

Let’s not beat around the bush, our rewards package is fabulous.  You’ll have 28 days annual leave, a pension scheme that increases to 11% after 12 month’s service, life assurance, interest-free season ticket loan and much, much more. On top of that, we’ll provide you with a fun, hard-working and supportive team.
