Which?, Investigative Researcher / Writer - Money & Travel
Do you have a nose for a story, top-notch research and writing skills and the desire to make a difference in consumers' lives - and pockets?
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Researcher / Writer to produce print and online content for two of our national magazines – Which? Money, the biggest selling personal finance magazine in the UK, and Which? Travel, the only completely independent travel magazine.
We don’t just report on issues, we step in and make a difference - from our continuing battle to convince airlines to fairly compensate passengers for delays and cancellations, to protecting people from online fraudsters who try to part you with your money. Combined we have over 100,000 subscribers in print, and we’re looking to engage with even more.
What you’ll be doing
Many of our successes start with complaints from Which? members. Take our recent feature on dodgy travel deals on voucher websites, or our exclusive about how ambulance chasers get your details. These stories came from Which? listening to its readers.
We need someone who can analyse our member feedback and turn it into the next top story – from top tips, to Q&As with members - and even develop that insight into a feature. It's a chance to make full use your understanding of what makes people tick and how to spot stories among consumer feedback - and translate your insights into compelling content.
You’ll also be doing some original research of your own, such as analysing survey data or collecting pricing data to turn into great advice pieces and investigations.
What we’re looking for
You'll need to have an understanding of consumer concerns in the finance and travel arenas. Sharp writing skills are required to help readers make the most of their money, and expose areas of consumer detriment.
We’ll need you to have:
- Ability to manage multiple short and long term projects
- Solid analytical and research skills
- Demonstrable ability to write for a consumer audience
- Experience of working with consumer insights would be beneficial
