Icon, Deputy Editor
Icon, the leading monthly architecture and design magazine, is seeking a deputy editor.
Icon is one of the world’s leading architecture and design magazines. Every month we interview the most exciting architects and designers in the world, visit the best new buildings, analyse the most interesting new cultural movements and technologies, and review an eclectic range of exhibitions, books, products and films.
Provocative, rigorous and insightful, Icon shows you exactly what’s happening in architecture and design today, and what it means for the future.
The deputy editor will take a central role in planning, commissioning and executing feature, news and review articles and support the editor across the magazine's operations.
The successful candidate will be a hive of ideas for themes, features and other articles and skilled at making those ideas happen on the page. You will have specialist knowledge of architecture and design, and established contacts within that world, and experience of working for a visually led magazine.
As well as commissioning and managing writers, you will be expected to contribute to the magazine and website yourself, and a strong track record in writing is essential.
A key part of the role involves attending industry events outside of working hours, representing the brand and embedding yourself within the design world. There will be some scope for travel to international design fairs.
This is a senior, full-time position as part of a small, hardworking team. The role is based in our offices in Loughton IG10, so this must be a feasible commute for you – please check if unsure.
