Nursing Times, the UK's leading nursing title, is looking for a full-time reporter to write news stories for its magazine and website.

ABOUT THE BRAND AND COMPANY

EMAP is a fast-growing UK and MENA based subscriptions business with a portfolio of market-leading brands communicating across a wide range of platforms and products.

EMAP creates high value content for hard to reach, powerful professionals that helps them and their businesses grow and prosper. We have over 84,000 loyal, paying subscribers and over 50,000 events customers who derive value from our content, the relationships we help them form and the networks we give them access to.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will require the holder to generate and write news content on a broad range of topics of interest to nurses and midwives. This could be political, clinical or general interest.

The role is centred on contributing daily stories for nursingtimes.net and weekly articles for Nursing Times. This could involve quickly summarising the key points of a major report, interpreting a scientific paper or seeing through to conclusion a major investigation.

Based in newly refurbished offices in Old Street, EMAP makes websites, magazines, tablet apps, mobile sites, live and digital events.

ABOUT THE PERSON

You will be a self-starter with a track record of generating exclusive off-diary stories, a strong team player and be used to working under pressure.

You will be hungry for exclusives and keen to win awards. You will also be a stickler for accuracy who is able to write accurately and engagingly to tight deadlines.

In addition, you will be as comfortable interviewing grassroots nurses on how they are preventing MRSA as you will be quizzing ministers on the latest health policy. Experience of data journalism and use of social media will be advantageous. You will have at least 12 months’ experience in journalism.

WHY WORK FOR EMAP?

EMAP has a long and rich heritage of being the custodian of a portfolio of world- class media brands.

Above all, EMAP has been built by its creative, innovative and dedicated people. Many extraordinary careers and reputations have been, and are being, earned here.

EMAP people are widely regarded as the experts in creating stand-out, prize-winning content. We are true insiders in the markets we serve. What we do makes a positive difference to our customers’, their businesses and their industries. The work we do here matters.
