Good Morning Britain, Lead Text Producer - 18 Month FTC
Full time, part time or job share considered
Good Morning Britain is looking for a dynamic journalist to work on Britain’s most talked about breakfast show. We need someone with determination and journalistic flair to deliver polished and professional content for our millions of viewers each morning.
As Lead Text Producer you will play a key role in our programme team. You will be responsible for writing and publishing the story text which appears on screen.
You will work alongside the director and programme editor to spot breaking news, decide key lines and write stories in an engaging way. You will responsible for the accuracy of the editorial content which appears on screen; for maintaining and improving the GMB style guide; and for training other members of the team when required.
After the show you will work with the planning and programme editors to look ahead to the next programme, suggesting engaging and creative ways of displaying story content on screen. You will become an expert in how to summarise news that is often complex and nuanced.
This role is envisaged to be principally a live gallery role during the show, but there will also be opportunity to spend time elsewhere within the business to experience all aspects of what we do and develop your skills as a strong all-round journalist and producer.
The Ideal Candidate
This is a demanding role and we need someone with drive and ambition to fill it. We set high standards and this role requires accuracy and attention to detail. We expect you will already be a professional journalist with experience of working in a busy newsroom.
You will be confident with spelling and grammar, and have a track record of being able to write engaging scripts or articles to tight deadlines. You will have a qualification in journalism or a provable track record of working in a professional environment as a journalist. You will also be confident in your knowledge of media law and compliance.
You will become adept at using our gallery software so that stories and information can be updated seamlessly. You will have a cool head under pressure and thrive in the busy gallery environment where no two minutes are the same.
You’ll work on a diverse range of stories from politics to potholes, film stars to MI5 agents, from cronuts to the Kardashians. It would be an excellent fit for an ambitious journalist looking to gain TV production skills or an experienced producer returning to the workplace.
