There is an immediate vacancy for a Correspondent (Automotive Industry).
We are looking for a correspondent based in either Frankfurt, Berlin or Munich to join the autos team covering the country’s automotive industry.
Reuters is looking for a reporter with a track record for developing sources, breaking news and delivering smart enterprise stories to join a team covering the country’s global carmakers and suppliers which includes Volkswagen, Daimler, BMW as well as suppliers Continental and Bosch.
Volkswagen’s diesel emissions cheating scandal triggered a global clampdown on combustion engines which has accelerated a shift toward electric and autonomous cars, intensifying a competition between established automakers and newer players such as ride-hailing firms. The transformation of automakers and their global suppliers is one of the biggest stories in the global industry.
We need a reporter who can stay on top of fast-moving spot news who can also deliver enterprise stories, while collaborating with our global autos team. Especially now, we are eager to have expanded coverage of auto trade politics and the impact of new technologies and business models in transportation.
Fluency in German and English is essential. So too is enthusiasm for working as part of a global team out of Germany, where Reuters has German language and international correspondents. Experience covering the auto and tech industries is not vital but a bonus.

- At least 5 years of experience in company news reporting desirable
