Car and Accessory Trader is the leading monthly B2B title for the independent automotive aftermarket in the UK. It is essential reading for independent workshops, motor factors, accessory retailers, parts manufacturers and suppliers.

The brand has an online presence at www.catmag.co.uk and celebrates the best of the industry with the annual CAT Awards each February. It is part of Haymarket Automotive, a business group that comprises of What Car?, PistonHeads, Classic & Sports Car as well as CAT. 

CAT is looking for an energetic and resourceful reporter to join the magazine’s editorial team. The role involves producing news and features for the magazine, website and other online projects.

Knowledge of the automotive aftermarket is not essential, but a desire to learn about it is. This role represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious journalist to work as part of a small team on a well-established and successful B2B brand.

You’ll need confidence and versatility to interview a range of people from the industry, from small business owners to executives of large multinationals. You will be expected to generate a bulging rolodex of industry contacts and acquire a reputation as someone ‘in the know’.

You will be required to produce content for both print and web on a wide variety of industry topics, often to short deadlines. A clean driving licence is essential for travel in and around the UK, while the position also includes overseas travel to business events and trips.

Desired skills and experience

  • Ability to turn out clean and punctual copy
  • A strong desire to learn about the industry and build contacts
  • A clean and current driving licence
  • Able to work from out offices in Twickenham (Occasional overnight and European travel is also part of the role)
